Atkins BarsThough Atkins has been
around for a long time, there are some people who still don’t
understand it. It has been changed in some ways, but the
fundamentals remain the same. However, since Dr. Atkins has died, he
obviously can not longer oversee what he started, and that has lead
to some changes that might not be for the best. I am not sure who is
running the company now, but they are not doing as well as he did,
and there are some things that they have changed that are not the
best for the dieters using the programs. The Atkins bars are an
example of this.
Don’t get me wrong, I hear they are great and the carb count is
in line with what this diet is, and what it can do. However, for
many, this is not something that should be avoided when they begin
the program. The first part of Atkins is the Induction phase, and
these Atkins bars have caused many trying to get through that phase
to stall out and they don’t know why. Because this part of the
program is more restrictive than the rest, it is best to avoid
anything not listed in the book.
It’s not to say that Atkins bars are not useful however. They are
great for those who have gone through induction and must of the
ongoing weight loss portion of the program. They are great for those
who are almost done with weight loss and moving into maintaining
their weight. They are great for snacks and add very little to the
daily carb intake for anyone. However, most people don’t know this,
and they are eating them early on in the diet. This is stopping
their weight loss, and that leads them to believe that this way of
eating does not work when it in fact can be beneficial. They are
marketed as safe for Induction but that is not the case for most.
If you are trying this way of life, and are finding that you are
having problems, remember that often it is just one food that causes
the weight loss to stall, and it might be something as innocent as
the Atkins bars. Though it is a very easy diet and way of eating for
many, there are times when small things will make a huge problem for
some. If you have been eating the Atkins bars with no problems, then
there is no reason you can not continue to do so. However, if you
find you have stalled, perhaps remove them and see if things pick up
for you again.
